INDEPENDENT COOLING FOR A HOTTER WORLD

FrostForge manufactures chillers that turn heat into cold, ice from sunlight. Designed and built in Switzerland to deliver grid-free cooling anywhere.

A city at dusk seen from the air: a hospital, a data centre, a market and homes, each marked where it needs cold.

COOLING.
UNPLUGGED.

Modern life depends on cooling. Food. Medicine. Data. Comfort. And the world keeps demanding more. FrostForge delivers cooling independence: no waiting for new grid infrastructure.

No grid. No fuel. Simply cool.

COOLING & DEMAND

The future runs on cold. Global demand is expected to grow 3x by 2050.

POWER & GRID

Most cooling still runs on electricity. Grid capacity is already falling behind.

Heat in.
Cold out.

Old science. Fresh engineering.

Solar or waste heat at 90 to 120 °C drives an adsorption cycle: no compressor, no combustion, no grid. Established chemistry; a patent-pending heat exchanger. Make cold. Store it as ice. Supply it when needed.

  1. Heat in.Sun or waste heat starts the cycle.
  2. Heat to work.Inside, heat moves the refrigerant. Cold leaves through the water circuit; spare heat goes to the surroundings.
  3. Cold out.Chilled water, or ice: made today, used tomorrow.
  • +7 °C comfort
  • +2 to +8 °C medicine
  • 0 °C fresh food
  • −18 °C frozen food

One Cold Engine covers all four.

We take cold further.

One machine, one owner, any use. Cold made locally, sold as ice and chilled water, or used on site. Cooling is no longer shackled by the grid: it is available everywhere.

Cold as a local service

A local operator could produce and sell ice to nearby businesses. Nearby traders get cold without each owning refrigeration equipment.

Keep food useful for longer

Cold storage helps protect food between harvest and sale. We aim to develop this use of the Cold Engine where electricity supply limits refrigeration.

Comfort from available heat

A longer-term application is building cooling from solar or waste heat. This use needs further development and validation.

Proof first.
Scale next.

In hardware. In Switzerland.

  1. FrostForge SA is founded. The Cold Engine is a sketch.

  2. Heat becomes ice in the lab. The sketch works.

  3. It runs the full cycle and reaches −30 °C in the lab.

  4. The international application for the heat exchanger is published. WO 2026/171993

  5. First customer: a utility provider. A pilot to prove the Cold-as-a-Service business model. Cold, sold like power: per kWh, by the utility that owns the engine.

  6. The same engine. More sites.

In 10 years…

the grid still exists,

and cooling is

everywhere.

Let's put cold to work.

The first Cold Engine is built. Want in early?

We should talk

Two sides.
One team.

The Cold Engine combines tech to make cold from heat. Two opposite sides, just like our founders. Jonathan sold solar renewable heat for fifteen years, including a 37 MW plant. Quinn designed and built research hardware for eleven years, from particle physics to solar thermal, and from CAD to manufacturing schedule. Together, this team went from whiteboard to patent filing to pilot in just two years.
